Tuesday June 18, 2013

I am so ready to be home!!! Another mom said having a baby in the NICU is like Groundhog's day.  This is very true.  I do the same thing every day.  I hardly know what day of the week it is.

We have a new neonatologist this week.  The doctors do rotations anywhere from one to three weeks.  The doctor we had the last two weeks wasn’t my favorite.  The doctor we have this week and next I really like.  He is 75 years old and super kind.  He told me on Sunday that this is the “frustrating stage.”  He said she is looking more like a normal baby so it makes you anxious to go home.  This is so true!!  I also think that because the end is closer it is making me more anxious to go home.  We are working on eating.  She still has about 1-3 of the A&Bs (not breathing) a day.  We have to go 7 days without one in order to go home.  We started giving her one bottle per shift on Sunday.  She is doing really well with the bottles.  The only one she hasn’t finished was during the night shift last night.  She drank about half and then fell asleep.  She weighed 3 lbs 15 oz last night.

Monday June 10, 2013

Yesterday Hannah was moved into an open crib. This means she is maintaining her own body temperature. It is also exciting because the next time the kids come to visit they will get to hold her. They are so excited!!  Sunday night when they weighed her she weighed 3 lbs 8 oz and was 16 inches long. The next step for her is to start waking up more so she can learn to eat.

Sleeping on the way home. Grandpa Doc would be proud.

Wednesday June 5, 2013

Monday Hannah weighed 3 lbs 1oz.  We were so excited she has passed the three pound mark. Her A's and B's are improving also. Monday and Tuesday she only had one each day. They are decreasing the temperature in her isolette in order to wean her to an open crib. Today they put a hat on her and I think they will put clothes on her today which will be another first.
